Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Amendment) Ordinance, 1987

                        ACADEMY (AMENDMENT)
                             ORINANCE, 1987

An Ordinance made further to amend the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Act, 1974

Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Act, 1974 (XXXI
of 1974), for carrying out the purposes hereinafter appearing;

And whereas Parliament is not in session and the President is satisfied that circumstances exist
which render immediate action necessary;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of article 93 of the Constitution
of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the President is pleased to make and promulgate the
following Ordinance:-

1. Short title.- This Ordinance may be called the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Amendment)
Ordinance, 1987.

2. Amendment of section 8 of Act XXXI of 1974.- In section 4 of the Bangladesh Shilpakala
Academy Act, 1974 (XXXI of 1974), heretoafter referred to as the said Act, in sub-section (3),
for the word "four" the word "three" shall be substituted.

3. Special provision.- Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law, where the term of
office of any member appointed or elected under sub-section (1) (c) and (d) of section 4 of the
said Act amongst the members of a Parishad established in accordance with the said section
before the commencement of this Ordinance, has, from the date of his appointment or election
until the commencement of this Ordinance,-

     (a) completed three years, such member shall not continue in office;
     (b) not completed three years, such member shall continue in office until three years
     beginning from the said date have been completed.
