ACTS OF THE LEGISLATURE AND GOVERNMENT NOTICES (PUBLICATION AND COMMENCEMENT) ACTS 1827-1944

Acts deemed to come into operation from day of assent

1 The mode hitherto used and accustomed in Bermuda for the Governor, or other of ficer administering the Government for the time being, to subscribe in writing, at the foot of every Act assented to by him, the day of such as sent being given, shall be continued in future, and all Acts which may be passed in the present or any future session of the Legislature in Bermuda, shall, unless otherwise therein expressed, be deemed and taken to come into operation from the day in the session when they are subscribed by the Governor, or other officer administering the Govern ment for the time being, as being assented to by him.

Publication in Gazette sufficient

2 (1) Where by or under any Act or other provision of law it is re quired (whatever words are used) that a Government notice shall be published in more than one newspaper, then, notwithstanding such re quirement, it shall be deemed sufficient in law if that Government notice is published in the Gazette and not in any other newspaper.

(2) In this section "Government notice" means any instrument, notice, or announcement, of whatever kind or description, published by or under the authority of the Governor or of any other public authority.
