1 Interpretation

2 Performance of functions of Registrar-General by Assistant Registrar-Gen eral

Interpretation

1 In this Act "the Assistant Registrar-General" means any person who is the substantive holder of, or a person for the time being duly ap pointed to act in, the office of Assistant Registrar-General or, as the case may be, the office of Assistant Registrar and Registrar-General.

Performance of functions of Registrar-General by Assistant Regis trar-General

2 (1) Subject to such directions as may from time to time be given by the Minister for the time being responsible for registration mat ters, any power conferred or duty imposed upon the Registrar-General by or under any Act may lawfully and validly be exercised or discharged by the Assistant Registrar-General.

(2) Any power or duty exercised or discharged by the Assistant Registrar-General as aforesaid shall, for the purposes of any provision of law, be deemed to have been exercised or discharged by the Registrar-General.
