CONTROL OF LIQUOR (H M SHIPS) ACT 1888

Offence to take liquor on board without permission of officer commanding
1 (1) No person shall bring on board any of Her Majesty's ships or vessels any spirituous or fermented liquor of any description without the previous consent of the officer commanding the ship or vessel on board of which the same may be brought.
(2) Any person who without such previous consent as is mentioned in subsection (1)—
(a) brings any spirituous or fermented liquor on board any of Her Majesty's ships or vessels without such previous consent as is mentioned in subsection (1); or
(b) who approaches or hovers about any of Her Majesty's ships or vessels for the purpose of—
(i) bringing any spirituous or fermented liquor on board the same, without such previous consent as is mentioned in subsection (1), or
(ii) giving or selling, without such previous consent, spirituous or fermented liquor to men in Her Majesty's service, or
(iii) aiding or assisting any officer, seaman, or marine, in Her Majesty's service to desert or improperly absent himself from his ship or vessel,
commits an offence against this Act:
Punishment on summary conviction: a fine of $720; and it shall be lawful for any non-commissioned officer, or for any police office, with or without any warrant or other process, to apprehend or cause to be apprehended any such offender or person so acting, and to bring him or cause him to be brought before any court of summary jurisdiction, to be dealt with according to law.
