Citation
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Contributory Pensions (Voluntary Payments) Regulations, 1968.
Voluntary payments to make up deficiencies
2 (1) Subject to paragraph (2) an insured person may make up deficiencies in his record aris ing from the following circumstances—
(a) for any period during which he is receiving full-time ed ucation or is attending a course of training approved by the Insurance Officer;
(b) if he is normally gainfully occupied in Bermuda and normally relies on being gainfully occupied for his liveli hood, for contribution week each day of which is, for him, a day of incapacity for work or a day of unemploy ment;
(c) if he is normally gainfully occupied in Bermuda and normally relies on being gainfully occupied for his liveli hood, for any contribution week each day of which is, for him, a day of leave (other than leave arising from inca pacity to work) without pay:
Provided that not more than 26 contribution weeks shall be taken into account under paragraph (b) of this regu lation for every period of inter ruption of employment:
Provided also that not more than eight contribution weeks shall be taken into account under paragraph (c) of this regulation for every period of leave without pay.
(2) No deficiency in relation to any contribution week may be made up under this regulation at a date later than three months after the end of the contribution year in which that contribution week falls.
Evidence
3 For the purposes of these Regulations, it shall be evidence of in capacity for work or unemployment or absence on leave without pay (other than leave arising from incapacity to work) if the insured person furnishes to the Insurance Officer a certificate by a registered medical practitioner, the Manager of the Government Employment Office or his employer, as the case may be.
Meaning of "temporary absence"
4 For the purposes of section 13(2) of the Contribu tory Pensions Act 1970 [title 18 item 7], a "temporary absence" shall mean a period or periods of absence from Bermuda not exceeding three months in any contribution year.
