HAMILTON (GARBAGE
COLLECTION) ORDINANCE 1969
[made under section 9 of the Public Health Act
1949
[title 11 item 1] as read with the Municipalities Act 1923

Citation
1 This Ordinance may be cited as the
Hamilton (Garbage Collec tion) Ordinance 1969.
Interpretation
2 In this Ordinance, the expressions
"house refuse" and "trade refuse" shall have the meanings
respectively assigned
to them in the Public Health Act 1949 and the expression
"refuse" shall include house refuse, trade refuse and other offensive
matter, but shall not include nightsoil.
72 hour limit
3 Refuse shall not be retained on any
premises for a longer period than seventy-two hours.
Wet refuse must
be in metal container
4 Wet or moist refuse shall be kept in
metal containers which will not allow the contents to leak.
Dry refuse
5 Wooden containers may be used for the
disposal of dry refuse.
Size of
containers
6 All containers shall be of a size
capable, when full, of being lifted by two men and shall be suitably covered.
Placing for
collection
7 Refuse for collection shall be placed
in proper containers at the side of the street, so as not to obstruct the
gutter, during the
hours specified in article eight of this Ordinance, and not
at any other time, and all containers shall be removed immediately after
being
emptied.
