HOSPITAL INSURANCE (PROCEDURE FOR SUBSIDY PAY MENTS) REGULATIONS 1971
[made under sections 2 and 40 of the Hospital Insurance Act 1970 [title 18 item 9] and brought into operation on 1 April 1971]

Interpretation
1 In these Regulations "the Act" means the Hospital Insurance Act 1970 [title 18 item 9].
Accounts to be submitted to Commission
2 The Commission shall be the authority to whom the accounts of the Board relating to claims for the payment of subsidy under section 2 of the Act shall be submitted.
Procedure for verification of accounts
3 (1) The Board shall, not later than the last day of each month, submit to the Commission, in respect of each patient for whom subsidy is claimed, an account, certified by an authorized officer of the Board showing the cost of providing hospital treatment for that patient, being treatment in respect of which subsidy is payable, during the month pre ceding that in which the account is to be submitted.
(2) The Commission shall, on receipt of the accounts submitted under paragraph (1), check that the persons in respect of whom such ac counts are submitted are entitled to subsidized hospital treatment under section 2 of the Act and, having satisfied itself that such accounts are accurate in all respects, shall, within one month of the receipt of such accounts, submit to the Accountant General a statement of the total amount of subsidy payable to the Board for the month to which the ac counts relate.
(3) The statement submitted to the Accountant General under paragraph (2) shall be certified as correct by the Insurance Officer and one other member of the Commission.
(4) The Accountant General shall, within one month of receipt of the statement of the Commission, pay to the Board the amount of subsidy certified by the Commission.

4 The procedure set out in regulation 3 shall have effect subject to any special or general directions which may be given by the Accountant General under the provisions of the Public Treasury (Administration and Payments) Act 1969 [title 14 item 1].
