HOSPITAL INSURANCE
(APPROVED SCHEME) REGULATIONS 1971
[made under
sections 26 and 40 of the Hospital Insurance Act 1970 [title 18 item 9] and
brought into operation on 6 February 1971]

Interpretation
1 In these Regulations "the
Act" means the Hospital Insurance Act 1970 [title 18 item 9].
Minimum number
of employees required
2 The minimum number of employees
required by any employer before he shall be entitled to discharge his
obligations under section
20 of the Act by means of an approved scheme in
pursuance of section 26 of the Act shall be one hundred:
Provided that the Minister
may, in any particular case where he considers it appropriate to do so, give
his approval to a proposed
scheme which applies to less than one hundred
employees.
Form of
application
3 An application for approval by the
Minister of a proposed scheme shall be in the form set in the Schedule to these
Regulations.
Fee
4 Where an application is made under
regulation 3 it shall be ac companied by a fee of $400.

(3 copies) should be submitted to the Insurance Officer and should be
accompanied by —
(a) 3 copies of the proposed scheme including all
terms and conditions thereto;
(b) a copy of the undertaking of a surety required
by section 28(3) of the Act.
