Law Library Committee

1 (1) There shall be a Committee, under the designation of "The Law Library Committee", which shall be charged with the management and control of the Library provided for by this Act.

(2) The members of the Law Library Committee shall be the Chief Justice, who shall be Chairman, a Puisne Judge, any Assistant Justice, the Attorney General and a barrister and attorney nominated by the Bar Council constituted by the Bermuda Bar Act 1974 [title 30 item 3].

Books not to be removed from building

2 The Law Library books shall be kept in such of the rooms on the ground floor of the Sessions House as the Law Library Committee may from time to time direct, and no books belonging to the Law Library shall be removed from the building.

Library books are Government property

3 All books hereafter procured by purchase, gift or otherwise for the Law Library shall be conspicuously stamped or marked on the outer cover "Supreme Court of Bermuda", and all books now belonging to the Law Library, or hereafter procured for the same, shall be the property of the Government.

Duty of Registrar

4 The Registrar shall have the charge of the Law Library, under the Law Library Committee.

Application of annual grants

5 Any annual grant made by the Legislature for the purposes of the Law Library may be applied by Law Library Committee for the pur chase and binding of books and other requisites for the Law Library, and for the preservation of the books belonging thereto, and for other inci dental expenses.

Rules

6 (1) The Law Library Committee may make rules consistent with this Act for the better regulation of the Library and without prejudice to the generality of such power, rules under this section may prescribe—

(a) the categories of person who are permitted to use the Li brary, whether free of charge or upon payment of such reasonable subscription as may be prescribed;

(b) the hours when the Library will be open for use by such persons; and

(c) the conduct to be observed by persons while on Library premises.

(2) Section 6 of the Statutory Instruments Act 1977 [title 1 item 3] shall not apply to rules made under this section.
