Matrimonial Causes (Decree Absolute) General Order 1974

BERMUDA STATUTORY INSTRUMENT

MATRIMONIAL CAUSES (DECREE ABSOLUTE)
GENERAL OR DER 1974

[made under the Supreme Court Act 1905 [title 8 item 1] and brought into operation on 1 January 1975]

Citation and interpretation

1 (1) This Order may be cited as the Matrimonial Causes (Decree Absolute) General Order 1974 and shall come into operation on 1st Jan uary, 1975.

(2) In this Order a decree means a decree of divorce or nullity of marriage.

Period of delay before decree absolute

2 In relation to any decree nisi granted after the coming into oper ation of this Order the pe riod of six months specified in section 5(5) of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1974 [title 27 item 3] shall be reduced to six weeks and accordingly the decree shall not be made absolute until the ex piration of six weeks from its grant unless the court by special order fixes a shorter period.
