PASSPORT ACT 1932

False
statements by applicants for passports
1 (1) Any
person who makes a statement which to his knowledge is untrue in a declaration
required to be made by an applicant for the issue
of a passport commits an
offence against this Act:
Punishment on
conviction on indictment: imprisonment for 2 years or a fine of $5,760 or both
such imprisonment and fine.
(2) Any person may, with the previous
sanction of the Attorney-General, be prosecuted summarily before a court of
summary jurisdiction
for an offence against this Act:
Punishment on
summary conviction: imprisonment for 6 months or a fine of $1,440 or both such
imprisonment and fine.
