REAL ESTATE ASSETS
ACT 1787
ARRANGEMENT OF
SECTIONS

Whereas it is just
and equitable that the whole estate, as well real as personal, of every debtor,
should be liable to the satisfaction
of his or her just debts;

Real estate
liable to debts of owner
1 The houses, lands and other
hereditaments, and real estate sit uated or being within Bermuda belonging to
any person indebted, shall
be liable to and chargeable with all just debts,
duties and demands of what nature or kind soever, owing by any such person to
Her Majesty, or any of her subjects; and shall and may be assets for the
satisfaction thereof in like manner as real estates are
by the law of England
liable to the satisfaction of debts due by bond or other specialty; and shall
be subject to the like remedies,
proceedings and process, in any court in Bermuda,
for seizing, extending, selling or disposing of any such houses, lands and
other
hereditaments and real estate, towards the satisfaction of such debts,
duties and demands, and in like manner as personal es tates
in Bermuda are
seized, extended, sold or disposed of, for the satis faction of debts.
