UNITED STATES BASES (CUSTOMS PRIVILEGES)
REGULA TIONS 1974
[made under sections 19 and 58 of the United States Bases (Agreement) Act 1952 [title 7 item 41] and brought into operation on 1 June 1974]
Extension of customs privileges to certain civilian personnel
1 The exemption from customs duties on importation of goods for sale to United States employees or members of their families in pur suance of section 19(1)(c) of the United States Bases (Agreement) Act 1952 shall apply to goods consigned to the United States Authorities for sale to persons of the fol lowing category, that is to say:—
Persons who are nationals of the United States who are present in Bermuda solely for the purpose of executing contracts with the Gov ernment of the United States of America for the benefit of the United States Forces and members of the families of such persons who are resi dent with them and are not engaged in any business or gainful occupa tion in Bermuda:
Provided that—
(a) such contract specifies that customs privileges are to be granted in pursuance of the provisions of this regulation; and
(b) the person to whom goods exempt from customs duties are sold is specifically designated and identified by the Government of the United States of America as a person entitled to receive customs privileges under this regula tion.
