E103164 - CTS 1976 No. 44

EXCHANGE OF NOTES BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF ISRAEL AMENDING THE SCHEDULE OF ROUTES ANNEXED TO THE AGREEMENT OF FEBRUARY 10, 1971, BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES ON COMMERCIAL SCHEDULED AIR SERVICES

I

The Acting Secretary of State for External Affairs for Canada to the Ambassador of Israel

OTTAWA, December 10, 1976

No. FLA-765

His Excellency Mordechai Shalev,
Ambassador of Israel,
Ottawa

Excellency,

I have the honour to refer to the Embassy of Israel's Note of November 10, 1976(1) concerning amendments to the Agreement between Canada and Israel on Commercial Scheduled Air Services of February 10, 1971.

It is my understanding that following the entry into effect on November 1, 1976 of a Memorandum of Understanding concluded between the Aeronautical Authorities of our respective Governments, agreement has been reached that the Schedule of Routes of the Agreement be amended as follows:

1. In Section I of the Schedule of Routes, specifying the routes to be operated by the designated airline of Israel, under "Points Beyond", the words "Two points in the U.S.A. to be named by Israel" should be deleted and replaced by "One point in the U.S.A. to be named by Israel, and Mexico City*". In addition, a footnote should be added reading as follows: "*two frequencies weekly between Montreal and Mexico City".

2. In Section II of the Schedule of Routes, specifying the routes to be operated by the designated airline of Canada, under "Intermediate Points", the present wording "Any point or points in Europe to be named by Canada" should be deleted and replaced by "Amsterdam* and any other point or points in Europe to be named by Canada". In addition, a footnote should be added reading as follows: "* two frequencies weekly with fifth freedom rights between Tel Aviv and Amsterdam".

I have the honour to propose that if the foregoing amendments are acceptable to your Government, this Note, which is authentic in English and French, and your Excellency's to that effect, shall constitute an Agreement between our two Governments which shall enter into force on the date of your reply.

Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.

Allan J. MacEachen

Acting Secretary of State for External Affairs
