The Secretary of State for External Affairs,
Ottawa

Sir,

I have the honour to refer to the Exchange of Notes of October 16, 1980 constituting an agreement between our two Governments for the purpose of facilitating the reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders between Norway and the Province of British Columbia, and to the Embassy's Note No. XV-38/83 of September 7, 1983 proposing that the said agreement be amended to provide for the reciprocal enforce­ment of maintenance orders between Norway and the Province of Saskatchewan.

I have the honour to inform you that this amendment is acceptable to the Government of Norway and to propose that this Note and your reply shall constitute an Agreement between our two Governments, amending the Exchange of Notes of October 16, 1980, which shall enter into force on the date of your reply.

Excellency:

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your Note No. XV-37/84 of September 5, 1984 proposing that the Agreement between our two Governments for the purpose of facilitating the reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders between Norway and the Province of British Columbia be amended to provide for the recipro­cal enforcement of maintenance orders between Norway and the Province of Saskatchewan.

I have the honour to inform you that this proposal is acceptable to the Government of Canada and to confirm that your Note and this reply, which is authen­tic in English and French, shall constitute an Agreement between our two Govern­ments which shall enter into force on today's date.

Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.
