EXCHANGE OF NOTES BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA AND THE NORTH PACIFIC ANADROMOUS FISH COMMISSION CONSTITUTING AN AGREEMENT AMENDING THEIR AGREEMENT REGARDING THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE NORTH PACIFIC ANADROMOUS FISH COMMISSION, DONE AT VANCOUVER ON NOVEMBER 3, 1993

I

The Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Executive Secretary of the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission

May 15, 1997

Dr. Irina Shestakova
Executive Secretary
North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission
6640 Northwest Marine Drive
Vancouver, British Columbia
V6T lX2

Dr. Shestakova:

I have the honour to refer to your concern about the lack of a provision allowing employment in Canada of dependants of officials of the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission.

I have the honour to propose that a paragraph be added to Article 8 of the Headquarters Agreement, which would read as follows:

"3. Members of the family forming part of the household of officers of the Commission may be authorized to hold employment in Canada, subject to conditions established by the Government of Canada."

I have the further honour to propose that this Note, which is equally authentic in English and French, together with your reply, shall constitute an agreement between the Government of Canada and the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission, amending the Agreement of November 3, 1993, regarding the Headquarters of the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission, which shall enter into force on the date of your reply.

Please accept, Dr. Shestakova, the assurances of my highest consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Lloyd Axworthy
