DEUTSCHE AKADEMIE DER VISSENSCHAFTEN ZU BERLIN
DER GENERALSEKRETAR

Berlin,
Den 27. Februar 1964

Prof. Dr. S. H. ZAHEER
Director General of the Council
of Scientific and Industrial Research,
New Delhi.

Excellency,

In the name of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin, I have the honour to confirm your letter of February 2nd, 1964 on the scientific relations between the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The details of the agreement reached between us are enclosed once again with this letter.

Instead of the Institute of Documentation as implementing organ of our Academy under point 2, I name the Department for Foreign and International Affairs of our Academy. This solution is more convenient, since the fulfilment of the wishes of the Council will make it necessary to call upon various quarters both inside and outside the Academy.

I should like to express my great satisfaction that with this Agreement on the scientific cooperation between our institutions the relations between our Academy and India have taken on a more concrete form than at any previous period in the 250-year history of our Academy. We trust that this Agreement will serve both to closen the friendship between the peoples of Germany and India, and to help scientific development in the Republic of India and the German Democratic Republic.

Please accept, Excellency, renewed assurance of my highest consideration.
