Buenos Aires
28 August 1968

No. 1305

Sir,

I have the honour to refer to the proposal you made to this Ministry concerning exemption from the payment of charges for visas on passport of the nationals of both countries and to confirm that the Government of the Argentine Republic is prepared to conclude with the Government of India an Agreement for that purpose, based on the following points :

1. Argentine nationals visiting India as tourists or in transit shall be exempt from payment of charges for visas on their passports.

2. Indian nationals visiting Argentina as tourists or in transit shall be exempt from payment of charges for visas on their passport.

3. This Agreement shall not apply either to Argentine citizens entering India or to Indian citizens entering the Argentine Republic temporarily or as immigrants.

If the foregoing proposal is acceptable to the Government of India, I venture to suggest that this note and your reply should be considered a formal Agreement on the matter between our two Governments which would enter into force on 1 October 1968.

Accept, Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
