Corresponding offences

119.
(1) It shall be lawful for the Minister to prescribe by regulation the offences which may be compounded and to specify the persons, if any, in addition to the accused and the injured or aggrieved party, by whom they may be so compounded.
(2) Each offence so prescribed may, whether a. prosecution for such offence is actually pending or not. be compounded by the person specified in the regulation, and notified m writing under the signature of both parties, to the appropriate Magistrate's Court.
(3) When any offence is compoundable under this section, the abetment of such offence or an attempt to commit such offence (when such attempt is itself an offence) may be compounded in like manner.
(4) When the person who would otherwise be competent to compound an offence under this section is a minor, an idiot, or a person of unsound mind, any person competent to contract on his behalf may compound such offence.
(5) The compounding of an offence under this section shall have the effect of an acquittal of the accused.
