| (1) Subject to the provisions of the Children and Young Persons Ordinance, when a person is convicted of any offence punishable by whipping, or of any two or more distinct offences, any two at least of which are punishable by whipping, the sentence or the combined sentences, as the case may be, shall not exceed twenty-four strokes with a rattan. |

| (2) No female shall in any case be punished with whipping. Nor shall any person sentenced to death or imprisonment for more than five years be punished with whipping. |
