Administration of Justice Law (No. 44 of 1973) - Sect 91

Person arrested to be produced before Judge

91.
(1) The person executing a warrant of arrest shall (subject to the provisions relating to security) without unnecessary delay bring the person arrested before the court before which he is required by law to produce such person or before the nearest Magistrate's Court and such latter Magistrate's Court shall, if the person arrested appears to be the person intended by the court which issued the warrant, direct his removal to such last-mentioned court:
(2) No police officer shall detain in custody a person arrested without a warrant for a longer period than under all the circumstances of the case is reasonable, and such period shall not exceed twenty- four hours exclusive of the time necessary for the journey from the place of arrest to the Magistrate.
(3) No person who has been arrested by a police officer shall be discharged except on his own bond or on bail or under the special order in writing of a Magistrate.
