General objects of the Corporation

3. The general objects for which the Corporation is constituted are hereby declared to be"
(a) to maintain and administer the Institute to teach the indigenous and ayurvedic systems of medicine ;
(b) to establish an ayurvedic hospital for medical treatment ;
(c) to hold examinations to select those who are qualified to study ayurveda ;
(d) to construct, maintain and equip the necessary buildings for the use of the Institute ;
(e) to promote self sufficiency in food and clothing, and non-violent harmonious living in Sri Lanka;
(f) to teach the living principles of Buddhism for the benefit of the public ;
(g) to initiate, promote and conduct, research into the efficacy of herbal remedies ;
(h) to conduct lectures, seminars, other educational programmes, and to publish information and educational martial with, a view to promoting its objects ;
(i) to utilize and harness nature and natural resources for medical purposes ;
(j) to establish and maintain herbal plants nurseries ;
(k) to establish herbaria ;
(l) to open laboratories for the manufacture of Ayurvedic drugs and to open sales units for the distribution and sale of ayurvedic drugs ;
(m) to promote the importation and exportation of ayurvedic drugs;
(n) to award foreign scholarships to local and foreign students;
(o) to provide university level education facilities for the study of various languages and subjects ;
(p) to establish and maintain affiliated institutions ;
(q) to aid and assist any person, to engage himself in any industry, trade or import export business or to establish and maintain any agricultural, industrial or commercial ventures and to provide programmes to train persons in technical skills;
(r) to give aid by way of scholarships, or cash or otherwise, to volunteers and other persons, engaged in the furtherance of the objects of the Corporation ;
(s) to provide and maintain libraries, to subscribe for and issue books, journals, souvenirs and periodicals ;
(t) to promote, organise and hold exhibitions, projects, lectures, seminars, symposia, workshops, classes debates, conferences tours and excursions to furtherance of its objects;
(u) to establish a research institute ayurvedic indigenous medicine;
(v) to co-operate and associate with other associations, societies or organisations, having objects similar to those of the Corporation ; and
(w) to establish and maintain institutions for the teaching of such arts and the provision of such vocational training as the cinema, drama, music, art and sculpture;
(x) to adopt methods of exercise and practices relating to beauty care physical health and physical fitness and to establish and maintain institutions for the conduct of clinics and health care through the indigenous system of medicine for such purposes :
(y) generally to do all such other things as may be necessary, conducive or incidental to the attainment of the aforesaid objects.
