| (1) The rates at which indemnity is payable in respect of any specified crop shall be determined and notified in the Gazette by the Minister before each season. |

| (2) The rates determined by the Minister under sub-section (1) shall vary-
| | (a) in the case of a total loss of the crop, according to the stage of production at which the loss occurs, and | | |
| | (b) in the case of a partial loss of the crop, in pro- portion to the extent of the loss and according to the stage of production at which the loss occurs. | | |
