Customs (Amendment) Law (No. 35 of 1974) - Sect 16

Replacement of section 82 of the principal enactment

16. Section 82 of the principal enactment is hereby repealed and the following new section substituted therefor: -
82. All warehoused goods shall be cleared either for home use or exportation within two years from the date on which the same were warehoused, or within such further period as the Collector shall allow, in which case the goods shall be examined by the proper officers, and the duties due upon any deficiency or difference between the quantity ascertained on landing, and the quantity found to exist on such examination, together with the warehouse rent and necessary expenses attendant thereon shall, subject to such allowances as are by law permitted in respect thereof, be paid down, and the quantity so found shall be re-warehoused in the name of the then owner or proprietor thereof, in the same manner as on first importation: Provided that the Collector may require any goods to be cleared at any time within the period of two years, if he considers that the goods are likely to deteriorate, or for any other reason.".
