Merchant Shipping Act (No. 52 of 1971) - Sect 107

Managing owner, &c

107.
(1) The name and address of the managing owner for the time being of every ship registered at a port in Ceylon shall be registered at the shipping office of that port.
(2) Where there is no managing owner, there shall be so registered the name of the ship's husband or other person to whom the management of the ship is entrusted by or on behalf of the owner; and any person whose name is so registered shall, for the purposes of this Act, be under the same obligations, and subject to the same liabilities, as if he were the managing owner.
(3) If default is made in complying with this section the owner or, if there are more owners than one each owner, shall be guilty of an offence and on conviction thereof shall be liable, in proportion to his interest in the ship, to a fine not exceeding in the whole two thousand rupees each time the ship leaves any port in Ceylon.
