Merchant Shipping Act (No. 52 of 1971) - Sect 115

National character of ship to be declared on clearance

115.
(1) An officer of customs shall not grant a clearance for any ship until the master of such ship has declared to that officer the name of the nation to which he claims that such ship belongs, and that officer shall thereupon write such name on the clearance.
(2) If a ship attempts to go to sea without such clearance such ship may be detained until the declaration is made.
