Prevention of false lights

195.
(1) Whenever any fire or light is burnt or exhibited at such a place or in such a manner- any authorized officer may serve a notice upon the owner of the place where the fire or light is burnt or exhibited, or on the person in charge of the fire or light, directing that owner or person, within a reasonable time to be specified in the notice, to take effectual means for extinguishing or effectually screening the fire or light and for preventing for the future any similar fire or light.
(a) as to be liable to be mistaken for a light from a lighthouse; or
(b) as to affect the visibility of the light proceeding from a lighthouse,
(2) For the purposes of sub-section (1), the expression " authorized officer ", in relation to any lighthouse, means the officer-in-charge of the lighthouse, or, where such lighthouse has no officer-in-charge, any Master Attendant, Government Agent, Assistant Government Agent, Shipping Officer, Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent of Police, a Divisional Revenue Officer or officer of the armed forces of Ceylon.
