Motor Traffic (Amendment) Act (No. 21 of 1981) - Sect 15

Amendment of section 25 of the principal enactment

15. Section 25 of the principal enactment is hereby amended as follows :-
(1) by the insertion, immediately after subsection (3) of that section, of the following new subsection :
" (3A) The possession by a manufacturer of a motor vehicle in Sri Lanka for the purposes of sale shall be deemed not to be a contravention of subsection (I) so long as the vehicle remains unsold and is not used on any highway. " ; and
(2) by the repeal of subsections (8) and (9) of that section and the substitution therefor of the following subsections:
" (8) The Commissioner may issue a permit authorizing the removal of any motor vehicle for the purpose of repairs or for the purpose of compliance with any provision of this Act or for any other specified purpose on a specified date from a specified place and the use of that motor vehicle for the purpose of such removal in accordance with a permit so issued shall be deemed not be a contravention of subsection (1).
(9) When the revenue licence for a motor vehicle becomes void under section 39, the possession of that motor vehicle by the owner thereof shall be deemed not be a contravention of subsection (1) if he has applied for a new revenue licence for that motor vehicle and the application has not been finally determined or if he has given notice of a period of non-user under section 37.".
