Declaration of the result

60.
(1) After the receipt of the documents referred to in section 55 the returning officer shall from the statements under subsection (7) of section 53 furnished to him by all the counting officers,(including the counting officers of the counting centre or centres where postal ballot papers were counted) add up and determine the number of votes given for each recognized political party and independent group. The returning officer shall, before he opens a sealed packet referred to in paragraph (h) of section 55, upon a request agent to inspect the seals on such packet.
(2) Upon such determination, the returning officer shall forthwith declare elected, in accordance with the provisions of Article 99 of the Constitution, such number of Members which the electoral district is entitled to return as has been specified by the Commissioners in the Order published in accordance with the provisions of paragraph (8) of Article 98 of the Constitution.
