| 51. The Commissioner may compound any offence under sub-section (1) of section 44 by accepting from the person who is alleged to have, or is reasonably suspected of having, committed that offence a sum of money not exceeding half the amount of the maximum fine that is liable to be imposed under this Act on such person for that offence. |
