Sri lanka Bureau Of Foreign Employment Act (No. 21 of 1985) - Sect 72

Interpretation

72. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires- "business of a foreign employment agency" means business (whether or not carried on by charging fees or otherwise and whether or not carried on in conjunction with any other business) of providing services (whether by provision of information or otherwise) for the purpose of finding persons employment with employers outside Sri Lanka or of supplying employers outside Sri Lanka with Sri Lankan labour, and includes the issue of an advertisement or notice calling for applications from persons for employment outside Sri Lanka or taking of any other action in connection with or incidental to such employment; "Chairman" means the Chairman of the Board; " employer" includes a body of employers; " licence" means a licence issued under this Act; " licensee" means a person licensed under this Act to carry on the business of a foreign employment agency; "public corporation" means any corporation, board or other body which was or is established by or under any written law other than the Companies Act, with funds or capital wholly or partly provided by the Government by way of grant, loan or otherwise; "private sector undertaking" means any undertaking carried on by an employer in the private sector and includes any undertaking carried on by a self employed person.
