| (1) An initial training period shall begin with a period of probation and end on the expiry of the period of training as specified in the contract: Provided however, where a trainee passes his final examination before the expiry of his period of training, his period of initial training shall end on his passing the examination. |

| (2) Where a trainee fails his final examination, his contract shall, if he so requests, be extended until the next occasion on which he can sit for the examination, subject to a maximum period of one year. |
