2. Section 3 of the Widowers' and Orphans' Pension Act, No. 24 of 1983, as amended by Act No. 19 of 1985, is hereby further amended by the repeal of subsection (6) of that section and the substitution therefor, of the following subsection : -
| "(6) Every officer shall within a period of six months from the date of coming into operation of this subsection, elect to be a contributor to the pension scheme. Where such officer has died prior to the coming into operation of this subsection or dies before the expiry of the period within which she could have elected to be a contributor, she shall, if she leaves a husband or child or a husband and child, or a husband and children, be deemed to have elected to be a contributor to the pension scheme.". |
