FEES ORDINANCE (CAP. 35)
FEES FOR NATIONAL MUSEUMS, SITES AND COLLECTIONS REGULATIONS, 2003
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Fees Ordinance, the Minister for Youth and the Arts, with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, has made the following regulations>
1. The title of these Regulations shall be the Fees for National
Museums, Sites and Collections Regulations, 2003.
2. In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires - “museums, sites and collections” means the museums, sites
and collections contained in the two Schedules to these Regulations<
“public holiday” shall have the same meaning as is assigned to it by the National Holidays and other Public Holidays Act. (CAP.
252)
3. (1) There shall be charged by Heritage Malta a fee of one Malta Lira (Lm 1) per person of nineteen years of age and over for admission on any weekday including Saturdays and Sundays, to all the museums, sites and collections in Malta and Gozo, other than those mentioned in sub-regulations 3 (2) and 3 (3) of these Regulations<
Provided that>
a) no admission fee to the museums, sites and collections shall be charged as regards persons who are under
12 years of age<
b) a rate discounted by fifty per centum of the ticket price shall be charged to persons who are aged sixty and over as well as to persons between the ages of twelve and eighteen, both ages included<

c) Heritage Malta may admit international student and youth card holders such as holders of ISIC and Euro 26, together with members of the International Committee of Museums (ICOM) with the admission fee mentioned in Regulation 3 (1)(b) above.
d) Heritage Malta may issue free of charge tickets for admission to any of the museums, sites and collections to>
i) organised parties of students attending school or other educational institutions, or attending an informal educational programme conducted by a responsible person<
ii) organised parties of members of scientific or cultural societies and organisations.
e) The Minister responsible for museums, sites and collections, may grant free of charge access to museums, sites and collections for the purpose of scientific study, research or restoration.
(2) The fees for admission to the {al Saflieni Hypogeum, Paola shall be as follows>
a) A fee of three Malta Liri (Lm 3) per person of nineteen years and over,
b) A fee of one Malta Lira and fifty cents (Lm 1.50) per person between twelve and eighteen years of age, both ages included, and senior citizens over 60 years of age,
c) Heritage Malta may admit international student and youth card holders such as holders of ISIC and Euro 26, together with members of the International Committee of Museums with the admission fee mentioned in Regulation 3 (1)(b) above,
d) A fee of one Malta Lira (Lm1) for every child under the age of twelve years.
(3) In order to encourage joint site visits, Heritage Malta shall charge the following admission fees for entrance to museums, sites and collections in Gozo>
a) a fee of one Malta Lira and fifty cents (Lm1.50) per person over the age of twelve for admission to both the gantija Temples and the Ta’ Kola Windmill, located in Xaghra<
b) a fee of one Malta Lira and fifty cents (Lm1.50) per person over the age of twelve for admission to all the museums sited at the Citadel, in Victoria, namely the Museum of Archaeology, the Museum of Folklore, the Museum of Natural Science and the Old Prisons.
(4) Admission to the museums, sites and collections listed in Schedule Two to these Regulations shall only be by appointment with the officers designated by Heritage Malta, together with the payment of the relative admission fee.
4. For the purposes of these Regulations, the world heritage sites of {a;ar Qim and Mnajdra Temples located at Qrendi are to be considered as two sites and so admission fees are payable for each of them separately.
5. For the purposes of these Regulations the fees mentioned in these Regulations are chargeable by Heritage Malta during the opening hours of the museums, sites and collections as stipulated by Heritage Malta from time to time.
6. (1) Notwithstanding the other provisions in these Regulations, Heritage Malta may issue to any licensed tour operator organising a group of five persons or over and led by a licensed guide, group admission tickets for admission at a discounted rate to all museums, sites and collections in Malta and Gozo except the {al Saflieni Hypogeum, Paola. Such group discounted admission tickets>
a) shall be purchased prior to the visit from Heritage

b) shall be made available to each member of the group who will be required to hand over the counterfoil to the officer in charge of the museum, site or collection, and retain the ticket while on site. Failure to hand over the counterfoil for whatever reason entails the payment of the full fee due for a visit to that site by that person. In such circumstance, payment is due by the licensed tour operator or by the leader of the group on site, at the discretion of Heritage Malta.
c) Shall entitle members of the group to entry to museums, sites and collections at a rate discounted by sixty

per centum of each ticket price in respect of each person of twelve years of age and over and under the age of sixty.
(2) As of 1st May 2004, the fees for group admission tickets referred to in Regulation 6 (1) above, will be at a rate discounted by thirty per centum of each ticket price in respect of each person of twelve years of age and over, and under the age of sixty.
7. Museums, sites and collections shall be kept closed on all public holidays, unless otherwise authorised by Heritage Malta.
8. These Regulations shall come into force on the 18th August 2003.
9. The Fees for National Museums and Monuments Regulations are hereby being repealed (L.N. 111 of 1992

).
