Security for keeping the peace on conviction

258.
(1) Whenever any person is convicted of any offence which involves a breach of the peace or of committing criminal intimidation by threatening injury to person or property, or of being a member of an un-lawful assembly, and the court before which such per-son is convicted is of opinion that it is proper to require such person to executed a bond for keeping the peace, such court may at the time of passing sentence on such person order him to execute a bond for a sum 'proportionate to his means, with or without sureties, for keeping the peace during such period not exceeding five years as it thinks fit to fix.
(2) If the conviction is set aside on appeal or other-wise the bond so executed shall become void.
