Security for keeping the peace on acquittal

259.
(1) If at the conclusion of any trial the court is of opinion that it is expedient so to do, for the purpose of preventing a breach of the peace, the court may require the accused, notwithstanding that he is not convicted, to execute a bond in a sum proportionate to his means, with or without sureties, for keeping the peace during such period not exceeding one year at it thinks fit to fix. The court shall record the reasons for making such order.
(2) An appeal shall lie against any order made under this section:
