| (1) When the accused is sentenced to whipping, the sentence shall not be carried out until after the expiration of fourteen days from the date of the pronouncement thereof, or (if an appeal is presented within that time) until the order of the Court of Appeal or Supreme Court shall have been notified to the accused, and the execution of the sentence shall be subject to the terms of such order. |

| (2) Subject to the provisions of subsection (1) of this section and to the provisions of section 294 (1), the whipping shall be inflicted as soon as practicable after the order. |

| (3) This section shall not apply to sentences of whipping passed on male offenders under sixteen years of age. |
